Water Jet Cutter
Water Jet Cutters
A water jet cutter is a tool for slicing into metal or other materials using a jet of water at high velocity and pressure, or a mixture of water and an abrasive (suspended grit, garnet or aluminum oxide).
Types of water jets include plain water jets, abrasive water jets, percussive water jets, cavitation jets and hybrid jets.

How Water Jet Cutters Work
The cutter is commonly connected to a high-pressure water pump from which the water is ejected through a nozzle, cutting through the material with a jet of high-speed water. Additives in the form of , can assist in this process.
With water jet cutters there is no heat affected zone (HAZ) as there is with other types of cutting.
Water jet cutters are also capable of producing rather intricate cuts in material. The kerf, or width, of the cut can be changed by changing parts in the nozzle, as well as the type and size of abrasive.
Commercial water jet cutting systems are available from manufacturers all over the world, in a range of sizes, and with water pumps capable of a range of pressures.

Excerpt: An abrasive saw with a 410 mm (16 in) diameter blade Steel cut off saw An abrasive saw , also known as a cutoff saw or metal chop saw , is a power tool which is typically used to cut hard materials, such as metals. The cutting action is performed by an abrasive disc, similar to a thin grinding wheel . The saw generally has a built-in vise or other clamping arrangement, and has the cutting wheel and motor mounted on a pivoting arm attached to a fixed base plate. They typically use composite friction disk blades to abrasively cut through the steel. The disks are consumable items as they wear throughout the cut. The abrasive disks for these saws are typically 14 in (360 mm) in diameter and 64 in (2.8 mm) thick. Larger saws use 410 mm (16 in) diameter blades. Disks are available for steel and stainless steel. Advantages Since their introduction, portable metal cutoff saws have made many building site jobs easier. With these saws, lightweight steel fabrication previously performed in workshops using stationary power bandsaws or cold saws can be done on-site. Abrasive saws have replaced more expensive and hazardous acetylene torches in many applications, such as cutting rebar . Cutoff wheels are composed primairly of fibers, held together with a group of small particles pressed and bonded together to form a solid, circular disk. Materials used are generally silicon carbide and diamond bits with a vitrified bonding agent. Excerpt: A table saw or sawbench is a versatile woodworking tool. Because of its versatility, when only one piece of large woodworking machinery is owned, it will often be a table saw. The saw consists of a circular saw blade, mounted on an arbor, that is driven by an electric motor (either directly, by belt, or by gears). The blade protrudes through the surface of a table, which provides support for the material (usually wood) being cut. table saw with special equipment for cutting large pieces of sheet stock The table saw was invented by Richard P. Lamotte on May 23rd 1906 in his search for a faster more efficient way to make straighter and more consistent cuts. In a modern table saw, the depth of the cut is varied by moving the blade up and down: the higher the blade protrudes above the table, the deeper the cut that is made in the material. In some early table saws, the blade and arbor were fixed, and the table was moved up and down to expose more or less of the blade. The angle of cut is controlled by adjusting the angle of blade. Some earlier saws angled the table to control the cut angle. It is mostly used in wood industry for faster wood work processing. A rudimentary table sawThere are four general classes of table saws: benchtop table saws, contractor table saws, cabinet table saws and hybrid table saws. Benchtop table saws are lightweight and are designed to be placed on a tab...
